Biography

I hold a PhD in Critical Human Geography, where my work critically examines the cisheteronormative structures of domesticity while recovering the erased and suppressed possibilities of queer and trans-potent spatialities within and through student housing. My doctoral dissertation provides a spatio-visual analysis of on- and off-campus student housing—tracing how its blueprints are informed by cisheteronormative norms while simultaneously (gender)queering both the landscape of higher education campuses and the portrait of the HE student. Positioned outside marital family homes and at the intersection of the university and the city, I theorize student housing as "trans subjects"—transient, liminal spaces that offer reimaginary possibilities and insights into non-normative home-futures.
As a professionally trained geographer, visual artist, and architect, my approaches to and tools of inquiry rework conventional disciplinary boundaries and are multidimensional. My creative visual art practice is integral to my intellectual inquiry—my visuals are not mere illustrations or aesthetic supplements but critical analytical tools that evolve alongside and shape the scholarly process. Through evolving diagrams, technical drawings, spatial narratives, abstract r/urban landscape paintings, 3D models, and installations, I develop a co-constitutive creative-intellectual methodology where theory and visual practice inform one another in dynamic, reciprocal ways. Whether working on my own research or collaborating with fellow academics, my visual creations actively shape and are shaped by the theoretical framework, scholarly argument, and data analysis.
